Breastfeeding Benefits

Giving breast milk to your baby benefits them, and you, in many ways.

Breast milk for your child builds their immune system,  which reduces the risks of childhood allergies and diseases. Producing breast milk, or lactating, also has health benefits for you, lowering the risk of certain kinds of cancer. Isn’t that amazing? Using human milk can help you bond with your baby, AND it is good for the environment. There are so many great reasons and numerous benefits to giving your milk!

About Us

The Maine State Breastfeeding Coalition is a non-profit organization with the intent to support families who value human milk and breastfeeding. We are made up of parents, Doulas, Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC), International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC), Pediatricians, Dietitians, Nurses, and many others with diverse backgrounds and professions.

Bi-Monthly meetings are held virtually for all to join to connect, learn, and grow together. This allows us to keep up with current research, learn about challenges around the State, share ideas, and celebrate successes. In addition to the connections made in our meetings, we have a Board of Directors and Committees to add to the guidance and input for our vision and mission.
